General Info

  • Cape Fear Community College (CFCC), a member of the North Carolina Community College System, is a public two year college located in Wilmington, North Carolina serving New Hanover, Pender counties, downtown Wilmington, Castle Hayne, and Burgaw.
  • Mission Statement:
    Cape Fear Community College is an open door, multi-campus, comprehensive community college that strengthens the academic, economic, social and cultural life of the citizens of New Hanover and Pender counties.

The Program

Pharmacy Technology Program

  • Pharmacy Technology Program Mission:
    The primary mission of the Pharmacy Technology programs is to train competent pharmacy technicians for employment in the hospital and community pharmacies in the service area.
  • Program Description:
    Trains individuals to assist and support licensed pharmacists in providing healthcare and medications to patients Day-time classes Classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experience, and practical experience in five different area pharmacies.
  • Special Program Features:
    The Pharmacy Technology program at Cape Fear Community College has been in existence since 1997. Each student receives extensive hands-on training in the class-room and laboratory, as well as clinical rotations at five (Diploma) or seven (AAS Degree) different practice sites. Financial aid is available to qualified applicants. An endowed scholarship for a qualified Pharmacy Technology second semester student is available. Counseling and job placement services are available to all students.

Admission Requirements

Admissions Requirements:

  1. H.S. Diploma or GED equivalency;
  2. transcripts;
  3. overall GPA of 2.0 or higher in all post-secondary courses taken in the last 3 years at CFCC;
  4. and completion of applicable placement tests and remedial courses if required based on placement test scores.
  5. Applications must be made in person. Applicants to the AAS Degree Program must have an overall of 2.5,
  6. completed all of the Diploma Program classes with a "C" or better,
  7. and have passed the PTCB exam.
  8. completed health/medical reports
  9. A nine (9) panel urine drug screen is mandatory.
  10. Background Check
