Pharmacy Technician Registration

Required
  • A pharmacy technician must register with the board of pharmacy on an annual basis.

Pharmacy Technician Training Requirement

Required
  • To be eligible to be registered by the board of pharmacy as a pharmacy technician the person must have completed one of the following requirements:
  • Successful completion of an academic program approved by the board of pharmacy;
  • An on-the-job training program that is directed by the pharmacist-in-charge and approved by the board of pharmacy; or
  • Employment in a pharmacy as clerical personnel or pharmacy technician for at least one year. This provision will expire one year after the approval of this rule and will require a request in writing by a pharmacist-in-charge of a North Dakota pharmacy.

Pharmacy Technician Certification

Certification is not required to practice as a pharmacy technician in North Dakota.

Pharmacy Technician Renewal Requirement

Required
  • A pharmacy technician must register with the board of pharmacy on an annual basis on March 1st.

Pharmacy Technician Continuous Education Requirement

Required
  • Each pharmacy technician shall complete at least ten hours of approved pharmacy technician continuing education every year as a condition of renewal of a registration as a pharmacy technician in North Dakota.

  • Mission:
    Pharmacy in North Dakota exists as a force in society for the safe, rational, and cost effective use of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
  • Through the provision of pharmaceutical care, the profession is responsible for the appropriate use of medications and devices to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes.
  • The profession endeavors to enhance the pharmacist´┐Żs ability to provide pharmaceutical care as a primary health care provider and to further the public recognition of the profession value.

  • The Dakota Pharmaceutical Association was organized August 3, 1885.
  • The Mission:
