General Info

Roane State Community College, founded in 1971, is a comprehensive, public, two-year postsecondary institution and a member of the State University and Community College System governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
  • Roane State serves the higher education needs of a widely diverse eight-county service area which includes Roane, Anderson, Loudon, Campbell, Scott, Cumberland, Morgan, and Fentress counties and expands to include Knox and Blount counties for the delivery of health technologies.
  • Roane State awards the associate of arts and associate of science degrees to students who wish to transfer to a four-year college or university. For those students seeking immediate career opportunities, licensure, or professional skill upgrading, Roane State awards the associate of applied science degree as well as technical certificates of credit.
  • Roane State Community College has nine locations across East Tennessee - the Roane County flagship campus; an Oak Ridge campus; campuses in Campbell, Cumberland, Fentress, Loudon, Morgan and Scott counties; and a center for health science education in West Knoxville.

    The Program

    The Roane State Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program is a 2 semester program preparing students to enter the pharmacy field as trained technicians. It is intended to provide comprehensive, quality training to students so they will be able to function in community and organized healthcare pharmacy settings. Upon completion of the certificate program students will be ready to obtain national certification by taking the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination. Mission of Roane State Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program is to provide allied health sciences students with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals as competent health care practitioners and active, effective citizens in their respective communities.

    Admission Requirements

    1. Submit an RSCC Admissions Application and indicate on the application you are interested in Pharmacy Technician. Submit required proof of immunizations.
    2. Submit OFFICIAL transcripts or GED scores from all high schools or colleges you have attended to the Office of Records and Registration.
    3. Submit Allied Health Science Application
    4. THE APPLICATION DEADLINE DATE FOR the Pharmacy Technician Program IS July 15.
    5. Passing score on Allied Health Science pre-admission test.
    6. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Students meeting minimum criteria will be considered competitively based on general education courses completed and GPA. Preference will be given to Tennessee residents.
    Students enter the program at the start of Fall semester and courses must be taken in sequence.
