The Program

Pharmacy Technician

  • Job Description:
    The certified pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist in providing medications and other healthcare products to patients.
  • The pharmacy technician measures, mixes, counts out, labels, dispenses, and records dosages of medications, makes IVs, and receives and verifies prescriptions.
  • The job involves handling insurance billing, purchasing, inventory, record keeping and use of databases and medical software.
  • Pharm techs also deliver medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients, nursing stations or surgery and maintain proper drug storage and security.

Pharmacy Technician Program

  • In NSCC's established 9-month Pharmacy Technician Certificate program, students get comprehensive career training that will prepare students well to pass the certification exam and get a job as a pharmacy tech.
  • The program has been in existence since the mid-1980s and has a strong reputation in the healthcare community.
  • 99.6 percent of North graduates pass their exam, and, because of many hands-on hours and externships at 2 different sites.
  • Computerized prescription processing is taught with pharmacy software that is currently in use in Washington pharmacies.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

  • High school completion or GED equivalency.
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Oral English skills sufficient to communicate accurately with others.
  • Applicant must complete a personal information form, listing references and permission to contact the references.


Accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).
