The Program

Pharmacy Technician Program

  • The UW Health Pharmacy Technician Training Program in Madison, Wisconsin, is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to be successful in career as a pharmacy technician.
  • UW philosophy is to learn in a classroom environment, practice through simulated labs, and then do these things in real, patient-centered pharmacy practice environments.
  • The training program, located in our "state-of-the-science" Clinical Simulation Facility.
  • The length of the program is approximately 20 weeks. This includes the combination of didactic/classroom time, lab time and experiential training.
  • In the UW Hospital and Clinics training program, classes are typically held Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm.

Admission Requirements


  • At least 18 years of age upon application
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • Have a minimum of two years professional work experience (resume and references required)
  • Interview
  • Background check
  • Health Assessment Drug Test
  • UW Health orientation
  • Medical screening


Applicant status by American Society of Health System Pharmacists.
